We have now received a 'full and final' written pay offer from the national employers' organisation the Universities & Colleges Employers Association (UCEA). This consists of a £150 increase to all pay points and a 0.5% increase London Weighting in post 92 institutions.
The offer also includes proposals to:
The employers state that the offer is worth approximately 0.5% of the higher education pay bill. The offer is worth more as a percentage of pay to the lowest paid staff.
The HESGE now believes that this is the end of the road for serious national discussions and so is now consulting with you the members to decide on the next steps.
UNISON has made it clear that we do not believe that the offer can be recommended for acceptance. However, we are also aware that many branches are currently concentrating resources on defending public sector pensions and that this remains the priority of the union.
Other trade unions, UCU and EIS, have agreed to accept the offer. Unite have rejected the offer and are currently balloting for industrial action. GMB are currently consulting on the offer.
